Letterpress Banner

Zombie Files is coming to a close, we are gearing up for episode 50, the last metroid is in captivity, and the galaxy is at peace.  As always, we have new projects in the wings.

Banner talk after the jump.
This banner is made of actual letterpress type, which I have access to as a student printmaker. The funny thing about arranging type in letter press is how it makes you realize how we take modern word processing for granted.  Looking through rows of drawers searching for the letters and arranging each backwards piece of type piece letter-by-letter, space-by-space takes an extraordinary amount of time. Probably 10 minutes to write this paragraph so far.  A well organized drawer and having command of the organization system speeds things up, but it still takes time. Digging through the drawers makes you think and deliberate about each word, its space compared to the previous letter and its relation to the next. People used to only be able to print using hand moveable type.  In the age of twitter and texting while driving being the norm of communications it's refreshing to being forced to slow down and type. Now that I have access to the letterpress, it is only a matter of time before you are able to touch and hold a slice of Dash Files.
